Apple iPhone 3G
The basics
Apple iPhone 3G is the newest improvement of Apple Inc.'s iPhone. This gadget boasts of fast 3G wireless technology, enterprise features support (i.e., Microsoft Exchange), and GPS mapping. It is a combination of three products in one package: It's an internet device equipped with desktop-class browser and HTML-rich email, revolutionary high-tech phone, and iPod in widescreen.
The good
This is the handset the first iPhone should have been. With its innovate tap-swipe-pinch-and-stretch interface and crisp 3.5-inch touchscreen, it's always been the best phone for user-friendliness. Now it's the best for web browsing and downloading too, thanks to the better-late-than-never HSDPA for fast 3G action. Design-wise, only the metal casing round the back has gone, making way for a plastic cover. It sounds cheap, but looks the canine's cojones. It's also got GPS and is now a top games machine too, thanks to titles such as Super Monkey Ball, which you can download from the impressive iTunes App store.
The bad
Apple may have rectified the recessing 3.5mm headphone socket with a standard jack, so you can plug in some decent cans, but they ignored our pleas for a better camera. Why change the rest then stick with the two-megapixel camera, eh Apple?
The bottom line
Undeniably beautiful, with the best interface on any mobile phone ever in the history of mobiles, the iPhone 3G would be perfect save for a few notable deficiencies.

Get a factory unlocked version from PhoneDevil.com or Play.com....saves you SO much in the long run because if you want the new one next year you have to buy out the whole of the remainder of your contract from O2!

why is the iphone so much more expensive than the ipod touch when the ipod feels nicer and is very thin with a quality feel to it. the only big difference between the ipod and the iphone is well the phone bit ofcourse and the 3g. but the ipod will do all the same stuff at a much smaller price.

Took a bit of getting used to just like everytime you get a new phone...the cheep way to get one is to take a reconditioned 3g instead of a new 3gs. My wife took the recon 3g to save paying £87 & its every bit as good as my 3gs. The main diference is the video camera, but who really uses that any way...its handy, but not essential. Also the voice call recognition on 3gs, good, but not perfect....like all voice recognition technology, it gets it wrong...obviously my alien scottish accent is too much for it to handle. Guess what...its definately the best gadget i've ever owned & love the gps apps with Rate my Ride which plots & guages your workout...it even tells you how fast & far you've gone as you cycle...Fantastic!!!!!

I love this phone. I dont think I could ever go back to a traditional mobile after using this. Its so easy to use and the apps allow you to make it the perfect phone.

Yes! Gadget of the decade!!! Totally deserved it! Ive got one and it is absoloutly fantastic. I love the range of apps you can get and most of them have free versions so thats great. If only the 3g had a camera that filmed. But you kinda forget about that anyway because you're too busy playing an app to care!

Had problems with the wifi on my iphone, apparently a common-ish problem with overheating of the wifi chip or a loose wifi antenna. Took it to apple store who replaced it for free - you really can't deny that they have a great customer service department. The phone is so simple to use, with a great interface. It is so intuitive that most people can pick it up and use it out of the box. The apps are what make this stand out though from the other smart phones out there. If there isn't one available for the function that you are after... just wait a week and someone will have written one. If you can't wait that long, have a stab at creating it yourself and making it available for everyone to download. If Suzi and Baldy can do it, anyone can!
