SanDisk Sansa Clip
The basics
A tiny MP3 player, the SanDisk Sansa Clip comesin 1GB, 2GB or 4GB flavours. It has enough juice for 15 hours of music playback, has an FM radio with 20 presets, a built-in microphone, and supports MP3, OGG, FLAC, secure WMA & Audible files. It measures 55x34x16.5mm, weighs less than 28.3g, and comes in five colours.

According to a colleague who has one, it works very well with linux - and has native support for ogg & FLAC files.

Bought this for my mum who is in her 70's and she loves it ,goes everywhere with it .I put 15 albums on it and all she has to do is charge it.The sound is impressive and clear and easy to use.

The Sansa website states you need Windows XP SP2 or Vista. Does anyone know if XP Home Edition is suitable? Definitely want one - looks great and suits my budget.

Just got my 8GB sansa, yet to fully test it, but so far so good. Being a recording musician I was more than impressed by the sound quality of the 16bit 44.1Khz sound recordings via the tiny mic at the top. Plugged into my PC with no issues, guess you can use it as USB storage for films as well. Can't wait to fill it with music, this is going on holiday with me.

I have the 1GB version of this MP3 player. The size and shape is ideal for a small MP3 player and is easy to navigate around. I have had continous problems though with battery life and charging. It seems to be always charging never reaching full battery. It never lasts long before the battery has run out. After many charges this remains the same! I acknowledge this may be down to the individual unit....

I have one. Totally agree with what the show says. My sister in law has the philips, i have the clip and my mate has the shuffel. The clip is obviously the best one. I recomend you visit the equalizer on the clip, the sound is terific. I use it for school. Reliable, well made, versatile, funky and tiny!

UPDATE : At the end the day it's a glorified memory stick so any files can be stored 'temporarily' on it too. Only draw back is you can't use it while it's charging, apart from that FANTASTIC GADGET and up yours Apple.

Would anyone know if this is compatible with itunes.... maybe a silly question. My 8 yr old wants an ipod, he`s borrowing mine at the moment, but this may be a better bet.

Probably pound for pound the best value player out there. Features are pretty basic but sound is exceptional. Put what money you save on this player towards some hi end headphones or ear buds, it will drive them fine - I pair mine with some etymotics and it sounds fantastic. Can be used on macs - just drag and drop, but wont sync with itunes. If you are serious about sound quality this little player makes ipods sound positively cheap, something that has been lost somewhat in the clamour for touch screens and the next new thing.

I love my little 8GB sansa clip. Battery life really long for me. Perfect size for my pocket or even holding it. It survived my day to day for more then a year now. going to art collage everyday, traveling and even camping up north in the rain. The only problem I have is that I love my XP computer.Vista and Macs really annoy me and for some reason my sansa at least doesn't connect to my XP. But it find on works on vista and Macs fine. Not to much trouble for me as I just use my brother computer for a little. A really good buy on my part.

Got one of these, easy to use, works straight out the box just plug & play. Original earphones are shite and I'm sure it's not quite 15 hours playback. And every now and again the radio just stops working and I have to reset it before it'll tune in again. But yeah, apart from that...

I own a 32gb i touch and bought one of these sandisks for a xmas present, tried it and had to buy another one as it is so easy to use, fab quality sound and so practical that i've kept it for myself (saves on the over use of my touch)

I actually own the 8GB Clip+ which means there is space for expanding the memory. I am still trying to get the hang of navigating around the menus, but I like it. Definitely better value for money than the iPod Nano.
