The Cobb

The basics

At just 30cm high the Cobb oven can roast, bake, barbecue, fry and smoke. It weighs 3.8kg. Lighting the Cobb is easy via the special Cobble Stone bricks made from coconut shells coated in Barium and Sodium Nitrate, which burns super-hot, super-quickly.

You can cook all your food on a Cobb. Not just a BBQ but a cooker. The food you can cook is endless. I have had one for 3 years and use ti camping, on the beach and a roast at christmas.

I am a BBQ enthusiast and own a Charcoal Webber, a Gas BBQ and a big Landmann American Smoker, as I have always been impressed with the Hairy Bikers Cobb cooking my Girlfriend bought one last year. Fantastic as we use it indoors on the dining table when we are having steaks. It is my Sister-in-Law's 60th Birthday this month and she and my brother own a Long Narrow Boat, I have bought one for her birthday as it will be safe to use and as space on a Narrow Boat is at a premium these Cobbs are ideal. Graham at Cobb is most helpful.

Had ours for about 2 years now. Nothing better than roast chicken when camping or on a picnic. 3lb bird 8 webber coals or heat beads 1hr 45min. It does great home made pizza. Only need 6 webber briqettes or heat beads takes about 10mins. Thin crispy base just dont go too mad on the toppings keep it light. Quesadilla's are great as well. We cook ours in a non stick pizza tray from £land. No need to buy expensive cobb accessories. Got our roasting rack from same. Does great casseroles using a pyrex dish. The secret to successful cobbing is to resist the urge to lift the lid all the time. Yeah it expensive to buy but its so versitile and bombproof.

Pal bought one and I got the last one in the shop. Tandoori Spatchcock Chicken 1st dish, fantastic. Used 8 BBQ Briquettes but allow at least 1 hour to get to correct cooking temperature. Ordered the griddle for steaks/burgers etc. Best thing as I have a very small balcony on my 4th floor flat and it just fits. PERFECT. Cleaning: Left tray and rack in hot soapy water overnight and easy clean in the morning.
