I just signed up to sky broadband £17.99 month, upto 8Mb and 40GB download limit. When broadband went active I was getting less than 100k, when I called support I was advised that there is a settle in period of 10 days and the speed should increase after this time, if I have any problems I can cancel anytime within the first 30 days. When my speed dropped to a download speed of 14kbps I called again and was advised the same thing, I have to wait for 10 days for the line to settle. After 10 days I tested the speed and found I was constantly at 1Meg, nowhere near the supposed £17.99 8meg speed so I called to cancel and was advised I cannot cancel as I have been active for more than 8 days, when I said that i had been told I had to wait 10 days for the line to settle so I couldn't cancel within 8 days the call handler said thats right it takes 10 days to settle but as I have been active for more than 8 days I cannot cancel. I'm just about to write to customer complaints about this as this seems a disgusting way to dupe customers into a contract, I would hope other people could be made aware of this policy and i'm sure this should be illegal in some way.

I am on SKY and i'm not going to lie I get a brilliant service. I am lucky I guess becuase I live real close to the exchange. We are ment to be getting 16Mbps and we connect @ 18.5 Mbps and it really does go that fast hounest. By UK standards this is almost unheard of but if you compair this to Japan, South Korea the USA etc it's very slow. More work still needs to be done!

Is there any information on mobile phone internet usage? I signed up to unlimited internet from Orange for my mobile phone, and have just found out it is capped to 500Mb which is feeble! Any ideas if these rules apply to mobiles as well?

I just noticed a comment about mobile Internet made by Laura. I recently got an Iphone and saw that O2 charge for Wi-Fi use, but on an iPod touch this is free. Can anyone tell me why this is? Or can we start a campaign to stop them charging us for this free feature on the iPod touch??
