Virgin keeps its 3D promise
3D making its way to Virgin soon
Virgin Media has made 3D content available on its catch-up service for the first time. Weeks after announcing it planned to host 3D content, Virgin has followed through, with The Queen in 3D and Derren Brown’s 3D Magic Spectacular available through Catch Up TV or TV Choice.
Virgin says it will also be adding the 3D episode of Chuck to its TV Choice stable, with the programmes being available to mid-December.
You’ll need to invest in a pair of 3D glasses to take advantage, though – Virgin Media shops and Sainsbury’s can take care of that – and Virgin’s 3D offerings are of the older anaglyph variety rather than the polarised technology Sky will be using next year and Virgin itself is trialling.
3D is very much in the spotlight at the moment thanks to Channel 4’s 3D week, which sees a smattering of 3D programming been shown every night, though also only using the older technology.
