Canon announces EOS-1D Mark IV pro DSLR
Canon's latest snapper for sports and wildlife pros: the EOS-1D Mark IV.
Canon has pulled the wrappers off a fifth edition of its legendary 1D professional-quality digital SLR camera. Aimed primarily at sports and wildlife photographers, the EOS-1D Mark IV boasts a 16.1-megapixel crop sensor and the ability to shoot continuously at an incredible 10 frames per second.
Low-light snapping should be impressive, if the ISO range of 100 to 12,800 is anything to go by (and that’s just native – it can be boosted to 102,400), and the customisable 45-point autofocus system should make it easier to capture moving subjects sharply.
HD video is becoming more and more common on DSLRs, and the 1D Mark IV is now equipped for modes up to 1080p – and it can even capture video at a film-like 24fps, something which should interest amateur Tarantinos everywhere.
The Canon EOS-1D Mark IV will be available in late December, priced at around £4499.
